We want our clients to have all the information they need. Let us answer some of the questions you may have about how to get a puppy…
What Can I Expect?
Total transparency. We want you to feel comfortable asking us any questions. If you reserve a puppy from a future litter, we will keep you updated regarding mama’s pregnancy, and we will send out a birth announcement once all puppies are born. We will also provide weekly pictures and updates on the progress of the puppies.
What Steps Do I Take?
In general, your journey will take the following steps:
- Read our Contract & Health Guarantee, and feel free to Contact Us with any questions.
- Fill out and submit the Application.
- When your Application is approved, send us your reservation fee.
- After puppy temperament testing, review the results and choose a puppy.
- Sign and send us the Contract & Health Guarantee.
- When your puppy is eight weeks old, send us your payment and pick up your puppy.
If you have an interest in one of our available puppies, or if you would like to get a puppy from a future Bee Haven litter, request a reservation with us. First, please read our Contract and Health Guarantee. You can use our Contact Us form if you have any questions. Be sure to tell us if you prefer texts or emails. We will respond within 24-48 hours.
Next, fill out our Application so we can get to know you better. The Application will help us to align your needs and interests with those of our puppies. Please allow us 1-3 business days to review your application. When approved, your reservation will proceed.
How Do I Meet the Puppies?
After we announce a litter has been born, we collect a $200 transferable, non-refundable reservation fee if you would like to choose a puppy from that litter. We will post weekly photos of each puppy. When the puppies become more active, we will post daily videos and photos of them interacting with each other and enjoying our puppy curriculum.
When puppies are 6 weeks old, they will visit the vet for first shots and a wellness exam. Our health and safety awareness does not allow us to accept visitors into our home. Instead, we provide lots of photos and videos—along with FaceTime, WhatsApp, or Zoom calls—so that you can get to know the puppies.
How Do I Choose a Puppy?
Each puppy will have a temperament assessment performed at 7 weeks of age, and the results of the entire litter will be provided to all clients on our reservation list in order to facilitate the best possible matches between puppy and new owner.
After temperament testing, we will arrange a video call with you to pick out your puppy. Picks are made by clients in the order we receive their reservation fees. A decision should be made during your scheduled pick so everyone on our reservation list can pick as planned.
Bee Haven Poodles & Doodles reserves the first pick of every litter and has the right to retain any puppy for our breeding program. So, it may be that not all puppies in a litter are available as pets. If we later choose not to keep a puppy from a litter, the clients already on the reservation list will move up the list before another client is added.
How Do I Bring Puppy Home?
Puppies will be ready to go home at 8 weeks old. Your signed Contract & Health Guarantee and payment are accepted at the time of pick up. Also, since payment systems continue to change, you’ll want to find out which forms of payment we accept.
If you are local to Tampa Bay, Florida, we will arrange to meet with you for pick up. Alternatively, delivery service is available at the buyer’s expense. We want to use a delivery service that we both feel comfortable with. You can use a service you already know, or we can give recommendations.
For non-local clients, we can meet a flight nanny at a local airport, or we can meet a ground transporter. We will not ship our puppies. Transportation is usually between $400-$600, but the price can be higher depending on the transporter and your location.
What if Things Don’t Work Out?
We offer lifetime breeder support. If at ANY time, or for ANY reason, you cannot keep your Bee Haven puppy, we will welcome them back and help them find a new home. (Please see our Rehoming Policy.)
We will forever and always be here for you throughout the life of your new pet. Of course, we want the best fit for our puppies and your family, so occasionally we may need to forego immediate placement of a puppy if we feel there is not a good match for you in the current litter. In that case, we can transfer your reservation fee to another litter, or you can request that it be refunded.
On the other hand, if the timing isn’t right for you and your situation, you may request that your reservation fee be moved to a different litter. Although rare, we also reserve the right to refund reservation fees if for any reason we are not comfortable placing a puppy with your family.
